If you have more than one CD-ROM drive, you can program playCD to play any combination of tracks from each CD by assembling a custom Play List. Make sure that the following files are in your System folder: • An OMCD-series CD-ROM driver that supports your CD-ROM drive. • Apple's Foreign File Access • Apple's Audio CD Access playCD serves as a disc catalog. When you insert a disc, the stack looks for it in the catalog. If the disc is in the catalog, you can install any of its tracks in the Play List field. If you load a disc which is not in the catalog, playCD requests the name of the artist and the title of the disc, and then adds the disc to the catalog. The Current Disc field displays the contents of the currently selected disc. To select other discs, use the left and right arrow keys or the on-screen arrow buttons. To select discs which are not currently loaded, use the "Next Card" or "Previous Card" commands (command-3 and command-2, respectively). There are two play modes: Play Disc and Play List. To select the desired play mode, use the Play Disc and Play List buttons. In Play Disc mode, you can play the current disc from start to finish. Pressing Play advances to the next track on the CD. Once a disc has started to play, you can quit HyperCard (type command-Q) and open other applications, or, if you are running under MultiFinder, you can simply open other applications - the CD will continue to play. In Play List mode, playCD plays the tracks listed in the Play List in rotation. The Play List can contain tracks from a single CD or, if you have more than on CD-ROM drive connected to your Macintosh, you can install tracks from several CDs, in which case playCD acts as a jukebox. As tracks are played from the Play List, they are rotated to the end of the play list so that playback can continue until either Stop or Pause is clicked. The title of the next Play List track always appears at the top of the list. To rotate the Play List without stopping and restarting playback, use the up and down arrow keys. To install tracks in the Play List from the currently selected disc, select the desired tracks by clicking in the column to left of the desired tracks, then click Install Selected Tracks. To install all tracks on the current disc, click Install All Tracks. To remove all tracks from the Play List, click Clear Play List. -- part contents for background part 123 ----- text ----- (No Tracks Installed)
